- Here is a link to a chart that has the NCATE certified institutions (in addition to the ones already in the contract) that the BOE approved in October 2010. As of 10/14/10, the MTEA is asking the BOE to also recognize institutions with TEAC accreditation. That item is directly below the chart and highlighted in red.

Helpful information about tuition reimbursement:
Administration has not approved every class that has been submitted! A few things to keep in mind:
- The course must be part of your practice.
- EVEN if you are not seeking reimbursement (you're paying for the class yourself), you still need advance approval from Casey to make sure the class will count for movement. If you pay for it yourself but did not submit it for approval, it will not count toward advancing your degree.
- Submit your tuition reimbursement forms to Casey Shorter through Frontline. Again, if the course isn’t approved through the approval process found at Frontline, you will not receive the advancement. Take a look at the steps & image below to fill out your tuition reimbursement form for the BOE.
- Reimbursement for 2nd and 3rd classes are scheduled to be paid at the end of the summer. They may be pro-rated.
- REMEMBER: Copies of Tuition Reimbursement go to Jon Huppert (jhuppert@mtea1.org) at Lazar.
- As of 10/3/17, send your paperwork to Linda Pichowicz in the Business Office/Purchasing at the BOE offices. Contact Information:
- Phone: (973) 331-7100, Ext. 2238
- Fax: (973) 316-4643

Each teacher must complete at least 20 hours of professional development each school year (replacing previous requirement of 100 hours over 5 years). The move to a yearly hourly requirement ensures that PDPs are revisited each year and are aligned with the teacher’s evaluation results as well as any learning related to school, team, or district priorities.
What Counts Towards 100 Hours?
Please see page two of the document below (beware it is somewhat vague). Please note that mentor PD hours equal one hour per week. Mentor PD hours include any district activities.
